ABOUT US

Woking Community Furniture Project – WCFP.

WCFP is a local charity which provides donated household goods and electrical items at low cost to families and individuals most in need who live in Woking and surrounding areas.  This is done with help from volunteers and dedicated staff who collect donated electrical appliances and furniture, refurbishing, where necessary, in their workshop and thus making available at low cost good quality re-usable items to those in need.

The charity works closely with local churches and charities who identify those most needing our help in buying items at reduced prices.  It also provides valuable work skills, experience and support to the long-term unemployed or those disadvantaged in our community.  It is an active partner working with Woking, Runnymede, Surrey Heath and Surrey County Councils in supporting their Re-use strategies.  This has the additional benefit of reducing large quantities of furniture being sent to costly landfill sites.

Background

WCFP was established in 1986 to consolidate the services provided by a number of local groups.  Over the years it has been based in various locations and with help from the National Lottery finally moved to the offices and shop at 27 North Road, Woking.  Having ovecome numerous challenges during this time it has gone from strength to strength and is now a registered charity working closely with numerous local support groups, and the Woking, Runnymede, Surrey Heath and Surrey councils.

The charity is underpinned with an established Board of Trustees, a dedicated management team and many volunteers.  Key staff are Chris Robins, Project Manager, and Wendy Buck, Sales Manager, together with Trustees Paul Tipple, Denis Moran, Richard Tinson and John Doran.
